Holiness Lived

Discarding security

For financial risk,

He left His day job;

Became one of the homeless.

Living in danger,

He was indifferent

To society’s verdict:

(He ate with outcasts,

“friend” to every man,

Political activist!),

All the way to point of death!

Holiness lived out,

As Creation intended;

Supreme harmony,

One with His Father.

Another Promise

“Lo, I will be with you—always.”

Another preposterous promise!

How can He be with me

At the same time He is with you?

Yet, --- I believe! --- He promised!

It may be preposterous, or not,

Yet, I know He meant it,

Therefore, I’ll choose to believe Him.

He Noticed

Always compassion driving Him forward,

He noticed the widow giving her pennies;

He noticed the deaf, and healed him in privacy,

Disabusing theology of “Who has sinned.”

He noticed Zacchaeus, high up in that tree.

He noticed needs of whoever passed by!

He was the “party boy,” loving His food,

Left us His “meal” to honor His ministry;

The good of this life should be lived to the fullest.

He noticed how Pharisees, attending to “law,”

Rejected Sabbath as a day for healing;

Thought Him but “A man who ate with sinners.”

This man was unique in all the world!

Yes, He did get weary, and needed His rest,

But no matter how tired, His compassion was shown

Even to serving the dregs of humanity.

His noted signature is His compassion.

What makes you think He would not notice you?

Rise Up to Bow Down

Rise up, in order to bow down to God.

Give up, in order to win everything.

Surrender your life, in order to gain.

You can lead others by choosing to serve.

If your concern is to care for yourself,

Then truly you will be lost in despair.

But, forgetting self, and looking to God

Will result in finding your true “self.”

God Loves Me

 I’ve taken the wrong turn, and I have sinned,
But God still loves me.
I’ve erred, and have done evil by this sin.
But God died for me.
I am as death, doomed. I’ve been immoral,
But still, God loves me.
He knows my story; my sin, my shame.
God’s love continues.
Each deed I tried to hide, He brings to light
Because He loves me.
There’s nothing I have done, or I can do
That He’ll not forgive!
